Film Smorgasbord Series

Here’s a fun film series for people who have a day job. The Winchester Community Center is screening “Food and Films II” every Wednesday from Mar 7 thru Apri 25. Admission is only $3. What a deal to sample such a international comedic smorgasbord of food-related films. 7 pm. 3130 S McLeod

Mar 7 – “Mostly Martha” (2002) Germany. Directed by Sandra Nettlebeck with Martina Gedeck and Sergio Castellitto, it’s interesting to note that it is being re-made for release this year as “No Reservations.”

Mar 14 – “What’s Cooking?” (2000) Norway. Gurinder Chadha directing Mercedes Ruehl, Victor Rivers and Douglas Spain.

Mar 21 – “Eat Drink Man Woman” (1994) Chinese. Earlier Ang Lee direction of Sihung Lung, Yu-Wen Wang and Chien-lien Wu. Very noteworthy banquet scene.

Mar 28 – “The Scent of Green Papaya” (1994) Vietnam. Anh Hung Tran directing Tran Nu Yen-Khe, Thi Loc Truong, Hoa Hoi Vuong.

Apr 4 – “Tortilla Soup” (2002) UK. Maria Ripoll directs a comedy with Jacqueline Obradors, Tamara Mello and Nikolai Kinski.

Apr 18 – “Feast at Midnight” (1994) UK. Freddie Findlay, Aled Roberts, Christopher Lee directed by Justin Hardy.

Apr 25 – “Simply Irresistible” (1999) USA. Mark Tarlov directs Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sean Patrick Flanery, Patricia Clarkson, Larry Gilliard Jr.
