NO Red White ‘n Boom draws comments
Fireworks | Sandra | June 26, 2007 at 08:57I am re-posting this article because there were several comments that could use more exposure. If you didn’t know, Clark County cancelled its annual Red White n’ Boom Fireworks display at Desert Breeze Park this year. They claimed that it was too expensive – I’m sure it does cost a fair share of the taxpayer’s money. But it might be interesting to take a vote, or at least a poll, to see how the citizenry feels about this latest budget cut. There were fireworks in North Vegas on July 3 and in Henderson and Summerlin on July 4. Summerlin was a concert event.

Well I was in the area last night to go to a fireworks stand, knowing the event had been canceled. Apparently a lot of people DIDN’T know this, as we saw people lined on the streets with chairs and a somewhat lost look on their face.
Apparently down in the Desert Breeze park where the soccer fields are, it was a little bit chaotic with fireworks being set everywhere.
How can this be “too expensive” yet every year the strip puts on a rather mediocre New Years fireworks show trying to make Vegas look like a big player in the “celebration scene”.
If you recall, originally, this show was free, then a few years ago they tossed up gates, some crappy live bands, and started charging to get in. Now, they just abandon it? That’s great. Spend lots of money to promote Vegas, but screwem’ when they get here.
Yet another reason this will always be a second-rate city.
There wasnt even any notification that the event was cancled, it it an awsome thing that really permotes city unity. This was a great event for the community and it should be back!!!!
Thank’s again Las Vegas for showing how much local families mean to the city! That is why I’m going to rais my child in Washington.
That event wasn’t all that great…where are the ‘free’ celebrations like every other major city in this country??
That is such crap. Leave it to Vegas to cancel the one event that people enjoy for the fourth July. Now what do we do?
That’s so sad! That *was* 4th of July to me when I lived in Vegas.
