Irony of U.S. and Al Jazeera collaboration on Libya

Does anyone else see the irony? The U.S. has worked hard to move the world to take action on a crisis that Al Jazeera English brought to the world’s attention. And kept there.

This is not saying that either the US or AJE are working single-handedly. There are lots of players who have moved the ball forward. But it certainly seems ironic that the US is going where Al Jazeera led.

Al Jazeera is touted as the enemy of the U.S. The Qatar news network certainly seems to hold the U.S. responsible for much that happens in the world. But in the latest events in the Middle East, they have been blaming the U.S. for what has NOT been happening.

Al Jazeera has gained big traction in the news world with its coverage of Middle East Revolutions. They now have the honor of being blamed by existing regimes for the revolutions themselves.

It used to be that the U.S. was blamed for everything. Now it’s sharing with Al Jazeera.

Here’s a new paradigm: Al Jazeera fans the flames. The U.S. provides the action. Politics makes strange bedfellows.
