Nic Robertson tells some of Eman Al-Obeidi’s story in this CNN interview. Eman shows CNN how she put on a traditional white Libyan headdress called an amazariyah which covers all but one eye. The amazariyah was given to her by the mother of a friend as a disguise during the car journey from Tripoli to the border. A defecting military officer took her in his car with him and his family. The car was stopped at several checkpoints where the officer would show his permit and they were allowed to continue. She was helped through the Dahibah border crossing  into Tunisia by Freedom Fighters. Eman is reported to have traveled under a refugee document.

She still fears Gaddafi agents who are reported to be everywhere in Tunisia. Unnamed European diplomats have taken her under their protection. At the time of the interview, she had not decided where she would go after Tunis, but latest reports have her arriving in Qatar. http://www.middle-east-online.com/english/?id=46029

Her mother is in Tobruk and it is reported she has a sister in Egypt. She referred to family in Egypt during the interview.
