Ambiance – the Casual French Bistro

Just got back from a great little lunch at Ambiance Bistro in the Annie Oakley Sunset Center. I was skeptical of anything out in the “burbs” being truly French, but I am happy to admit I was wrong. The Quiche Lorraine was delectable, with that special bacony flavor only the French achieve. My Warm Goat Cheese Salad was a bit heavy on the dressing side, but the Dijon mustard-vinegrette was a point. The tarte tatin (French style apple pie) had that homemade freshness so difficult to find. The apples were moist and tasty – I just enjoyed and forgot about the butter and sugar required to achieve that level of perfection. The accompanying full grain bread was oven fresh and if you prefer baguette, that too was just comme il faut.

We were greeted by the server in a reassuring French accent, although he did turn out to be Quebecquois. The prices are very reasonable and the ambiance charming, but cozy and simple – like a bistro should be. There are outside tables with red umbrellas for an even more European experience. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday thru Saturdays. This is a great place to meet friends, savor some authentic and debakerytartelettescuites.jpglicious French cuisine and still go easy on the wallet.

They have bakery goods for sale and we picked up a couple of flaky croissants for Sunday coffee at home. The website shows petit fours executed in the kind of artistry for which the French are reknown. Ambiance Bakery Bistro 702-454-3020 3980 E. Sunset Rd Las Vegas NV.
