wsop.jpgThe $10,000-Buy-In Main Event of the 38th World Series of Poker started Jul 6 and runs through Jul 17. The biggest poker event in the world, the runup to the No Limit Texas Hold ’em Main Event began five weeks ago.

Venue is the Amazon Room at the Rio Pavillion Convention Center, 11am-6pm. Tournaments are free and open to the public, but you must be 21 to attend. Various events are televised on ESPN – the broadcast schedule, along with plenty of other news and details, are posted on the website

I have sat in for a few hours in the past and it’s a lot of fun. There are small bleachers placed at the main table and if you wait around, the crowd rotates often enough that you will eventually get a seat. Your first entry into the Amazon room, with a sea of poker tables and low hanging lamps, is worth the visit. Rio Pavillion Convention Center Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino 3700 W Flamingo Rd Las Vegas NV. Best parking is at Pavillion parking area off Twain.

If you have read the paper then you know that there were celebrities galore on hand Jul 05 for poker games to raise awareness and $ for the crisis in Darfur.
