utahopera.jpg1.5 hrs north of Salt Lake City, set in spectacular mountain scenery in Cache Valley is the Utah Festival Opera running from Jul 11 thru Aug 11. The festival takes place in Logan’s Ellen Eccles Theatre, a 1100-seat European-style edifice of neo-classical design. Built in 1923, it has been restored to state-of-the-art capability. This is their 15th Anniversary Season. Check out their website for full info ufoc.org

The productions are performed in revolving repertory so you can see all shows in 3-4 days. This year’s schedule is as follows. You will notice that, in spite of the name of the Festival, there seems to be only one opera.
Il Trovatore (Verdi)
Most Happy Fella
(Loesser)
Porgy & Bess (Gershwin)
Show Boat
(Kern & Hammerstein)
West Side Story
(Bernstein & Sondheim)
