lvwacpres.JPGThe public is welcome to join this event sponsored by the Las Vegas World Affairs Council (LVWAC) on Aug 24 when presidential candidate Sen. Mike Gravel (D-Alaska) will speak on “The Solar Hydrogen Economy: A New Energy Policy for America.” A long-time activist, this former senator is known for his efforts to end the draft after Vietnam and for putting the Pentagon Papers into the public record in 1971.

solarhydrogen.JPGThe LVWAC is starting The Downtown Presidential Series to encourage presidential candidates to visit downtown Las Vegas, highlighting its diverse offerings. The series is billed as the place “where presidential candidates and downtown las vegas mix.” Time is 5:30p-7:30p, admission is $30 members/$40 non-members. Public welcome and highly encouraged to attend.

You’ll not only have the opportunity to meet and chat with a presidential candidate, but enjoy good food, cocktails, and stimulating company. RSVP lvwac.org. Venue for this event is the Ice House Lounge 650 S Main St Las Vegas NV.

As an important aside, the City of Las Vegas is adding two hydrogen-fueled Ford E-450 buses to the city’s fleet, the 1st city in the West to put these ultra clean vehicles on the street.
