Is Obama waiting til US Nationals out of Libya?
A Point of View, Middle East & North Africa, Politics | Sandra | February 22, 2011 at 21:10I see Hillary‘s face. She knows about the evil in the streets of Libya. She wants to send in the Marines. She looks like she’s really holding herself back when speaking as Secretary of State Clinton. It’s wearing on her.
Obama probably reflects the same sentiments – he just expresses it differently. And he is President of the United States and might just be a little worried that something he says might tick off madman Gaddafi and he’d order his henchmen to go after Americans.
You can’t put anything past Gaddafi.
I am starting to sense this when I hear the news of the ferry to sail Americans from Tripoli to Malta tomorrow. I like the way it’s presented: “First Come, First Serve.” The strongest survive! That’s America. Those with medical conditions go first. I’d guess that’s be followed by women and children. Like who goes on a life raft when the ship is sinking?
What I don’t understand is why they don’t send two ferries and assure everyone of a place. They must have good numbers on the Americans in Libya. No one would be crazy enough to be there without registering at the Embassy. Well, maybe a couple of adventurers here and there. But they’re probably way way south in the desert.

In the way, It may be a fine factor that he was elected, as he is already discredtitng the DemoRATS, and started a Conservative revolution. I wasn’t a great deal for politics 3 several years ago, and have recently come to be particularly active. There’s a Tax Day Tea Party about 3 miles from my home that I shall be attending. I also shall be posting some videos for the liberal stomping grounds on Youtube true soon.
Great observations Len. I still think Hillary’s face tells it all. Glad I only have a blog to spout my opinions and don’t actually influence world events with my every word!
Glad to see you’re cutting Pres. Obama a little slack, a day or two at least. He has a way of working quietly, statesmanlike. His patience gets results, like the BP gulf oil spill restoration money, or the last-minute Xmas gift package of concession by Republicans in the recent lame duck Congress.
Compare this to when the popularly elected President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela was overthrown by an oil-backed coup. US President “W” Bush was quick to grant the coup plotters diplomatic recognition. But a day or so later the people restored Chavez, and he remains in power to this day. Obama will never humiliate our country with this kind of blunder and meddling.
Another example is when a popular democratic president was about to be elected in Iran, but Bush threats and saber-rattling caused the puppet Ahmadinejad to be “elected” instead.
I hope that there’ll be a swift and humane end to Gadaffi’s brutality. Your article on the tribes of Libya is illuminating. But I hope that they can all work together for the common good.
