Where in the world are the Gaddafi women Safiya and Aisha? Poland, Tunisia or Tripoli?

Rumors on twitter have them everywhere from Tunisia to the Cayman Islands to Poland. Poland? Can’t even imagine how that came up. So many reports of them in Tunisia that it might have been sightings of Elvis. But in the end the Tunisian Foreign Minister denied that Gaddafi’s wife Safiya and his only daughter Aisha had ever been in Tunisia, stating that any member of the Gaddafi family would be arrested should they try to enter the country.

Guess that means that Mohammed Gaddafi, the Libyan dictator’s eldest son by his first wife, is not in a hospital in Tunisia as was earlier rumored.

Why the Gaddafi women, Safiya and Aisha, would go to Poland is a bit of a mystery. There doesn’t seem to be any connection to Poland for them. In fact, Poland has established strong ties with Benghazi, home to the Transitional National Council of Free Libya. Maybe that connection has opened doors for Safiya and Aisha, as it would be most demoralizing to the Gaddafi regime if the ladies left.

The regime is highly interested in showing that Safiya and Aisha are still in Tripoli, but have not yet produced them for even an interview on State TV.

It looks to the world like Gaddafi’s wife and daughter, if reports are true that they have left for Tunisia or Cayman Islands or Poland – or even Vienna, their favorite shopping ground, then the message is clear:

“We’re outta here! Gonna save our skins.”
